The Apparition Church of Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine and its surrounding environment is under construction now. Therefore, due to the modernization of the Apparition Church, the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is situated in the Shrine Ground, has to be removed from its present place.
This Statue of Blessed Virgin Mary is a Statue that has won the reverence of devotees without any religious differences.
Devotees have received immense help by praying at the feet of this Statue of Blessed Mother, which is placed in the Shrine Ground of Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine. The Shrine of Our Lady of Katunayake is the One and Only Shrine in Sri Lanka, where the Blessed Virgin Mary has appeared. The uniqueness of this Statue of Mother of God is at various occasions, devotees have seen Live Signs from this Statue.
The Blessed Mother Mary has made a request to recite the Holy Rosary at the feet of this Statue for 9days, before it is removed from the place where it is placed now. Therefore, to obey her request, the recitation of the Holy Rosary was commenced last Saturday, 3rd August.
Devotees lit Candles, made in the shape of Rose Flower, at the feet of this Statue of Blessed Mother, before commencing the recitation of the Holy Rosary. Most Holy Apostle, His Holiness Rohan Lalith Aponso, initially lit those Candles.
The 2nd day of the 9 days recitation of Holy Rosary will commence at 4.00 pm, on Saturday 10th August.
